Alexis Porcaro is an Oboist, English horn player, and educator currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Miami as a Henry Mancini Fellow and Oboe Teaching Assistant. Originally from New York, she earned degrees from Stony Brook University and SUNY Purchase, and studied at The Juilliard School Pre-College Division.
An active orchestral and crossover musician, Alexis has performed with ensembles including Miami City Ballet, Nu Deco Ensemble, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and Florida Grand Opera, where she has served in principal roles. She also performed as principal oboe on the Miami stop of La La Land in Concert under the direction of Justin Hurwitz and has collaborated with artists including Lindsey Stirling, Pat Metheny, Ben Folds, and Will Lee.
In addition to performing, Alexis teaches reed making and private lessons to undergraduate oboe students at the Frost School of Music, maintains an active private studio, and previously served as a teaching artist with the Miami Music Project. Passionate about international study and collaboration, she studied in Vienna through the ISA Masterclass Summer Music Festival and was a semi-finalist for the Fulbright Program.
